Not a Dog? Do the Car Dance With Your Cat or Yourself

The reference dancer is a golden retriever, but the Dancer slot is not limited to dogs. The template keeps whatever species is in the photo, so the same routine beside the red car can star a cat, a rabbit, you or a friend who agreed to it. This page covers what changes when the dancer is not a dog.

Other dancers, same routine

01

Species is kept, not converted

The template does not turn your cat into a dog or your friend into a retriever. An animal keeps its own face, ears, coat, markings and tail and dances upright on its hind legs; a person stays a person and dances with hands and feet. Nothing from the source dog's body is carried over, including its black harness.

02

With a cat

Cats are a natural second choice: an unimpressed cat doing a cheerful street dance is its own joke. Use a full-body photo with the tail visible. A cat's proportions differ from a retriever's, so review the paw on the fender and the tail before posting.

03

With yourself

A person performs the same routine: a hand on the red car's fender, a wave to the camera, an upright strut with lifted knees and both hands raised at chest height to finish. That last pose reads as a playful paws-up imitation. Use a full-length photo in the outfit you want, standing, in even light, with your face toward the camera.

04

With a friend

Only use a photo of someone who agreed to be in the video, and do not upload photos of public figures. The result looks like real footage of them dancing in a street, so label it as an AI video when you post it and let them see it first.

05

Pairing a pet and a person

There is one dancer per video, so a pet and its owner cannot dance together in one clip. Make one video for each and post them as a pair: because the timing is identical, the waves at about 3 seconds and the paws-up finish at about 10 seconds line up when you cut between them.

06

What stays the same for everyone

Whoever dances, the red car, the parked cars, the night street, the camera framing, the 12-second length and the reference soundtrack stay fixed. The step-by-step guide covers quality, price and what the finished portrait MP4 contains.

Choose the roles you want to change. Add a photo for each selected role.

  1. 01

    Choose the dancer

Upload one clear photo of your pet or yourself. A full-body photo with the face, legs and tail visible gives the dance the most to work with.

  2. 02

    Review quality and price

Choose 480p, 720p or 1080p and review the credit quote. It includes the video plus the photo and scene preparation for your dancer.

  3. 03

    Check the moves

Watch the paw on the car, the wave and the final paws-up bounce, then download your portrait MP4 with the original song.

01

Your pet is the dancer

One photo casts the dancer. A dog stays a dog and a cat stays a cat, with its own coat, markings and tail, dancing upright on its hind legs; a person dances with hands and feet.

02

The whole routine

The full 12-second take keeps the paw on the fender, the wave, the strut with lifted knees, the bigger steps as the music builds and the paws-up bounce at the end.

03

The street stays the same

The boxy red car, the parked cars behind it, the warm night lighting and the handheld framing all stay as they are. Only the dancer changes.

Questions & answers

What is the Dog Car Dance trend?

It is a 12-second night-street clip: a golden retriever stands upright next to a parked red car, rests a paw on it, waves to the camera and dances on its hind legs to the music. Dog Car Dance is Oakgen's descriptive name for it; we found no established public name for this clip.

Is this the same as the AI dancing dog meme?

No. The Dancing AI Golden Retriever Dog meme documented by Know Your Meme from November 2025 is set to a military cadence, with no car. This reference is a different clip: a night street, a red car and an electronic track.

What song is in it?

Instagram labels the reference's audio as "The Moon" by Dj Mimmo Suarez. We could not confirm that track anywhere else, so treat the label as the post's own credit. The final MP4 keeps the reference's soundtrack.

Does it work with a cat or another pet?

Yes. The template keeps the uploaded animal's species, coat and markings and has it dance upright on its hind legs. Bodies very different from a retriever's vary more, so review the video before sharing.

Can I use a photo of myself?

Yes. A person stays a person and does the same routine with hands and feet beside the car. Use a full-body photo with the outfit you want.

Can I change the car or the street?

No. The red car, the parked cars, the street and the night lighting are part of the fixed scene. Only the dancer changes.

How many photos do I need?

One. The single photo casts the dancer for the whole clip.

How long is the video?

The output is about 12 seconds in portrait 9:16 format, matching the full reference.

Is the preview generated by Oakgen?

No. It is the attributed source reel, shown for its moves and timing. Generated likeness, paw contact and footwork can vary; review your result before sharing.

How much does it cost?

2,718 credits per 720p video. The quote includes one character preparation, three scene references and the full video. Review the selected resolution's quote before generating.
