The template turns two photos into the 15-second duo dance, so the photos are the only creative choice you make. This page is a checklist for choosing them: what a usable photo shows, which of you should take which part of the routine, and the kinds of photo worth retaking before you spend credits.
The two parts are not the same. Dancer A has the forward step: during the crossover A comes toward the camera and to the right with a high knee and a wide arm swing. Dancer B has the big pose: the fist thrown above the head at about 6 seconds, then the pass behind A to the left. Give the fist-up to whoever wants the bigger moment and the forward step to whoever wants to be closer to the camera for a beat.
Keep: a photo from head to feet, standing, taken from a few steps away. Retake: a selfie, a seated photo, or a photo cropped at the waist. The dance is filmed full body the whole time, so everything the photo leaves out, from the legs to the shoes, has to be made up.
Each dancer wears the clothes from their own photo. A coat over the outfit, a bag strap across the chest or a jacket held in one hand can all end up in the dance. Wear what you would actually do the routine in: trainers rather than heels, nothing that hides the arms.
Lay the two photos side by side. If you squint and cannot tell them apart, a viewer will struggle too when the two of you pass each other around 10 seconds. Worked examples: a white tee next to a black hoodie is easy to follow; two friends in the same team jersey are hard to follow, so one of you changes top; twins or siblings can keep similar faces if one wears a cap or a bright colour.
Keep: face toward the camera, eyes visible, even daylight or room light. Retake: sunglasses, a hood pulled low, a strong filter, or a face that is only a few pixels wide in a group shot. The face is small in a full-body frame, so a sharp photo gives the AI the most to work with.
One person per photo, nobody else in the frame. Crop friends out rather than leaving half a shoulder in. Use your own photo and one of someone who agreed to be in the video; never a celebrity, a public figure or a child.
If you are unsure about a photo, run 480p first and watch the crossover before paying for 1080p. Each run makes the whole 15 seconds, so change one photo at a time between runs to see what made the difference.
