Closed on Sunday for TikTok and Reels: Crop, Caption, Post

The Closed on Sunday template exports a landscape 16:9 video, because the music video it is based on is landscape. TikTok, Reels and Shorts are portrait. This page covers how to fit the clip into a vertical feed, what to write over it, and how to label it.

Getting it onto a vertical feed

01

Letterbox, or crop and follow

You have two choices. Post it landscape inside a vertical frame, which keeps the whole crowd but leaves bands above and below. Or crop to 9:16, which fills the screen but keeps only about a third of the width. Because your figure walks through the crowd after the first few seconds, a fixed centre crop can lose you: in the reference the figure is left of centre at about 4 seconds and near the right edge at about 12. If you crop, use an editor that lets you move the crop window to follow the figure.

02

What a crop loses

A 9:16 crop drops most of the crowd at the sides, and the crowd is half of the joke: a few rows of singers make the point less strongly than hundreds. Letterboxing keeps all of them, which is why it is often the better choice for this trend.

03

Make the caption deadpan

The clip works because one person refuses to join in. Write the caption from that person's side: "Me at the family group chat", "When everyone else is excited about Monday", "The only one who read the terms and conditions". Keep it to one line; the figure never reacts, so the caption does the talking.

04

Where text fits the frame

In landscape, the bands above and below the video are the safest place for text. In a 9:16 crop, the top of the frame is crowd heads and your hood sits around the middle, so put short text near the top and keep the middle clear. Leave the bottom for the app's own buttons and captions.

05

The audio

Your video keeps the song audio from the excerpt. If the app mutes or flags it, attach the official "Closed On Sunday" track from the app's sound library instead and line it up so the video starts with the music. Do not tag the artist as if he appears in or endorses your video.

06

Label it and ask first

Say it is AI-made in the caption and turn on the app's AI-content label if it has one. If you post the reference next to your version, label which clip is yours. Post only a face that agreed to be in it; if you made it with a friend's photo, send it to them before you post.

How to make it

Add a photo for the central figure.

The roles in the Closed on Sunday original reference
Central figure in the Closed on Sunday source video
Central figure
  1. 01

    Add your photo

Upload one clear photo of yourself or of someone who agreed to appear. A sharp, front-facing face works best; the hood is added, so the outfit does not matter.

  2. 02

    Review quality and price

Choose 480p, 720p or 1080p and review the quote. It includes the full video, your photo preparation and three scene preparations.

  3. 03

    Check the centre

Watch that you are the only one in maroon and tan, that your face reads under the hood and that the crowd keeps its own faces, then download your landscape MP4 with the original song.

01

You are the centre

One photo gives the central figure your face and build. The template is built to replace the face from the music video; check it before you share.

02

The hood and red gloves stay

The raised maroon hood, the tan puffer vest and the red gloves are the look of the trend, so you wear them whatever your photo shows. The hood frames your face.

03

The whole crowd stays

Hundreds of singers in beige keep their own faces, songs and raised hands. Only the central figure changes, in one slow 15-second landscape shot with the original song.

04

The original as reference

The preview is an excerpt of the official Closed On Sunday music video from 2019. It is the motion and timing reference, not an Oakgen result.

  • One person per photo
  • Sharp, front-facing face
  • Hairline visible at the forehead
  • Any outfit works: the hood, vest and gloves are added
  • Use a photo of someone who consented
  • Check your face under the hood

Questions & answers

What is the Closed on Sunday AI trend?

It is a 15-second landscape AI clip that puts you at the centre of the huge outdoor choir crowd from Kanye West's Closed On Sunday music video. You are the only one in a raised maroon hood, a tan puffer vest and red gloves, standing and walking slowly while hundreds of people in beige sing, sway and raise their hands around you. Oakgen's template puts your face on the central figure and keeps the look, the crowd, the shot and the song.

Where does it come from?

From the official music video for Closed On Sunday, a song on Kanye West's 2019 album Jesus Is King. The preview is 15 seconds of the video's choir-crowd scene. AI video tools and TikTok trend lists now call one-photo recasts of the choir scene the Closed on Sunday AI trend.

Is this made with Kanye West?

No. Oakgen is not affiliated with Kanye West, his label or the music video. The music video is only the motion and timing reference, and the central figure's face is always replaced with the face from your photo.

Do I have to wear the hood?

The look is part of the trend. Whatever you wear in your photo, the video dresses you in the maroon hooded top with the hood up, the tan puffer vest and red gloves. Your face comes from your photo; the hood covers most of the hair.

Is the song in the video?

Yes. Your video keeps the original audio of the excerpt from Closed On Sunday. The central figure does not sing; the crowd around them does.

Can I swap the crowd for cats or skeletons?

No. Some apps offer restyled versions of this trend. Oakgen's template keeps the original crowd and changes only the central figure.

Who else is in the video?

Hundreds of people in matching beige clothing stay as background people with their own faces and movements. Only the central figure takes your face.

Whose photo can I use?

Your own, or a photo of someone who agreed to be in the video. Do not upload photos of celebrities, public figures or anyone who has not consented, and label AI videos clearly when you share them.

How long is the video?

15 seconds in landscape 16:9, one slow continuous shot through the crowd.

Is the preview generated by Oakgen?

No. It is an excerpt of the official music video used as the reference, not an Oakgen result. Review your face and the crowd before sharing.

How much does it cost?

3,102 credits per 720p video. The quote includes your photo preparation, three scene references and the complete video. Check it before generating.
