How to Make the Mi Chico Dance AI Trend With Five Friends

You have seen the clip: five friends lean over a phone lying on the ground, one grabs it for a selfie, and then all five dance Mi Chico on a rooftop at sunset. Filming it for real takes five people, a rooftop, a practised routine and a clean single take. This guide makes the same video from five photos, in order. When your video is back, the companion article, checking your Mi Chico Dance result, walks through it dancer by dancer.

Put your crew in the Mi Chico video

Add five photos, one per dancer, review your credit quote and make the 17-second rooftop crew video with the original sound.

Create this trend

What the template gives you

Mi Chico Dance recreates a 17-second portrait take with no cuts: a worm's-eye huddle over the phone, the leader's selfie while walking backwards, the phone going down, and the five-person Mi Chico routine on a rooftop car park as the sun sets, ending on hands on heads and a whip-pan to the sky. The reference is a TikTok by @jyt posted on September 26, 2026, the earliest version of this crew format we found. The shot-by-shot breakdown has the timings for each part.

Credited source frame at about 0.4 seconds: five young people lean over a phone on the ground, seen from below against a blue sky, waving and making peace signs

Step 1: get four friends on board

The video shows five people, so you need four friends besides yourself, and each of them should agree to be in it. Tell them what it is, that it is AI-made and where it will be posted. Anyone who does not want to be in it stays out. If you are organising the group, the Mi Chico trend with friends page has a fuller checklist.

Step 2: collect five good photos

Ask each person for one photo of just them:

  • face clearly visible, looking roughly toward the camera, in even light;
  • upper body or full body showing, because the outfit in the photo is the outfit they dance in;
  • no sunglasses, low hats, masks or heavy filters;
  • one person per photo, not a crop from a group shot.

Five visibly different people read best when the camera circles the formation. If the crew wants matching outfits, agree on them before the photos are taken.

Step 3: cast the leader first

Credited source frame at about 5.5 seconds: the leader in a tan-and-navy patchwork jacket and ripped jeans dances front and centre on the rooftop car park with the others behind

The leader in front of the crew in the credited @jyt source video, not an Oakgen output.

The Leader is the one who picks up the phone, fills the frame during the selfie walk-back and usually dances front and centre. Put the person the video is about here. Then fill the other four: Blue beanie and Black cap are close to the lens in the huddle and dance near the leader, and Sunglasses and Graphic tee lean in from the top of the huddle and fill out the formation. The labels describe the original dancers; your photos replace their faces and clothes. The casting page explains how much of each role is seen.

Step 4: check the quote

Choose a quality in the studio and read the credit quote before generating. It covers the whole video and the preparation of all five photos. This guide does not list a fixed price because the studio quote is the authority.

Step 5: know what is fixed

The rooftop car park, the sunset, the camera moves, the routine and the sound are the template. The sound is the source's audio: the TikTok sound "Official Mi Chico", credited to Jason Derulo, from the Jason Derulo and Melody version of DJ Goja's "Mi Chico". You cannot add a sixth dancer, drop to four or change the moves. If you came here from the cat or dog versions, those are AI remakes of this crew video, compared on the crew vs animal versions page; this template is made for photos of people.

Step 6: caption and post

TimeBeatCaption idea
0 to 1.5 sHuddle over the phoneThe setup: "When the group chat finally agrees on a plan"
1.5 to 4.4 sLeader's selfie walk-backWho the crew is
4.6 to 15.5 sThe routineNothing, or a short line in the upper third
15.5 to 17 sHands on heads, whip-panThe sign-off

Keep text near the top during the routine; the dancers fill the lower half of the frame. Say that the video is AI-made. If you show the source next to yours, credit @jyt and label the two clips separately.

There is no generated example on this page and no measured success rate for any photo. Once your video is back, run through the dancer-by-dancer check before you post. If you want the background on the song and the name, see trend de mi chico.
