The Island Boy AI trend is a 14-second vertical clip in a small backyard pool: one man sits on the stone edge with his lower legs in the water, the other stands waist-deep in the pool in his clothes, and the I'm an island boy vocal hook plays over their movements while a phone camera sways around them. Oakgen's template recasts both of them from two photos you choose. This guide goes from casting to posting, in order. If you want the background of the meme and casting ideas first, read the Island Boy meme explained.
Cast your two island boys
Add a photo for the man on the edge and the man in the pool, review your credit quote and make the 14-second Island Boy video with the original sound.
What the template gives you
One 9:16 clip, 14 seconds long, one continuous handheld shot with no cuts, and the reference's original sound. You replace both people. The pool, the stone edge, the banana plants behind, the daylight and the camera path stay as they are.

A frame from the AI reference clip, not an Oakgen output. Your two people take these two places.
| Time (about) | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0 to 4 s | The man on the edge looks up at the camera and then turns to the man in the pool |
| 4 to 9 s | The camera drifts right; the man in the pool sways and gestures toward the edge at chest height |
| 9 to 14 s | The camera sways back; the man in the pool keeps gesturing, the man on the edge glances at the lens and back |
Step 1: Decide who sits and who gets wet
This is the only creative decision the template leaves you, and it makes the video. The Man in the pool makes the larger hand moves, and stands in the water in whatever he wears in his photo. The Man on the edge looks toward the camera and then watches. Put the more theatrical friend in the water. If one of you owns a leather jacket or a suit, that photo belongs in the pool slot.
Step 2: Pick the two photos
For each slot, in order of importance:
- A clear, front-facing face. The camera keeps moving, and the face has to hold up when it comes closer.
- Upper body or full body in the outfit you want. The clothes in the photo are the clothes in the video. For the pool slot, the trousers end up under water, so the top matters most.
- One person, even light. No second person in the frame, no sunglasses, no heavy filter.
Pick two people who look clearly different in hair and clothes, so you can see at a glance that each stayed themselves for the whole shot. A pet or a character photo also works in either slot; the pet version explains what changes.
Both slots are required. The template will not start until both have a photo, and an empty slot never keeps a reference man.
Step 3: Read the quote
Open the Island Boy template, add the photos and pick 480p, 720p or 1080p. The studio shows the credit price before you generate; it covers both photo preparations and the complete 14-second video. A 480p run is the cheaper way to test a new pair of photos before paying for 1080p.
Step 4: Check the result
Watch it once with sound and once muted. Check, in this order:
- Face and mouth movement. Compare each person with the reference. Its mouths do not consistently match every word of the soundtrack, so check that your result preserves the visible movement without swapping the two faces.
- Faces and outfits. Each person keeps their own face, hair and clothes for all 14 seconds, including when the camera swings closer.
- The water. The person in the pool should stand in the water with ripples and wet fabric around them, not float above it; the legs on the edge should go into the water, not stop at its surface.
- Nothing added. Exactly two people, no text, no logos.
The generator page lists what the template can and cannot change if something looks off.
Step 5: Post it
Say the video is AI-made and use photos only of people who agreed to appear. The meme line makes a ready caption on its own; the meme guide has more. If you show the reference clip next to your version, label which one is yours.

Frequently asked questions
How many photos do I need for the Island Boy AI trend?
Two, and both are required: one for the Man on the edge, who sits on the pool edge with his legs in the water, and one for the Man in the pool, who stands in the water fully dressed and makes the larger hand gestures.
Do the clothes in my photos show up?
Yes. Each person wears the outfit from their own photo. Nothing of the reference clothing is kept, and the person in the pool stays dressed in the water.
Can I change the song or the words?
No. Your video keeps the reference's original sound: the I'm an island boy vocal hook, with no backing track.
Can I use a pet instead of a person?
Yes. Either slot accepts a person, a pet or a character photo. A pet keeps its species and follows the same movements; results vary more, so review the video.
Is the preview video made by Oakgen?
No. It is the AI reference clip the template is built from. Nothing in this guide is an Oakgen result.
