Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is the YouTube transcript tool free?

Yes, for videos up to 3 minutes, with a daily limit per visitor. A free Oakgen account raises the limit.

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

Both are caption files with the same lines and timings. SRT is the format most video editors import. VTT, short for WebVTT, is the format web video players read.

Why does a video have no transcript?

The tool reads the captions a video already has, including YouTube's automatic captions. When a video has none, you can sign up and transcribe it with AI in Oakgen.

Can I turn the transcript into a voiceover?

Yes. Open it in Oakgen and the text fills the voice studio's script. Generating the voiceover uses credits like any other Oakgen voice generation.
