AI Face Shape Detector

What this analysis gives you

The AI Face Shape Detector looks at the visible outline of the face in your photo: its length compared with its width, the widths of the forehead, cheekbones and jaw, and the shape of the jawline and chin. It returns the closest common face shape as a visual estimate, the evidence for it, other shapes it could be, and hairstyle and glasses frame ideas to try.

What a photo cannot prove

  • The result is a visual estimate of an outline, not a measurement, and it can change between photos.
  • Head tilt, camera angle and close-range lens distortion change apparent proportions.
  • Hair over the forehead, ears or jaw, beards and glasses hide parts of the outline.
  • Many faces sit between two shapes, so the report lists other possible shapes.

When to use it

Choosing glasses frames

Get frame shapes to try for your estimated face shape, then preview them on your own photo before you visit an optician or order online.

Planning a new haircut

Use the hairstyle ideas as a starting brief, preview a few on your photo, and bring the report to your barber or stylist as background.

Settling between two shapes

If quizzes keep giving you different answers, run two or three photos and compare the visible evidence and confidence notes instead of relying on one label.

Styling advice for a client

Stylists and image consultants can use the report as a neutral, evidence-based talking point with a client's consent, alongside their own in-person assessment.

How it works

  1. Upload a clear photo of the subject.
  2. Add optional context. A front-facing photo taken from about arm's length or farther, with hair pulled back from the forehead and jaw, usually gives the clearest outline.
  3. Select Analyze Image. The report appears beside the form and is saved to your analysis history.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my face shape from a photo?

Upload a front-facing photo with your hair pulled back, the camera at eye level and your whole face and jawline visible. The report estimates the closest common face shape from the visible proportions and shows the evidence it used.

How accurate is an AI face shape detector?

It gives a visual estimate, not a measurement. The same face can read as oval in one photo and oblong or round in another because of camera angle, lens distortion from close selfies, expression and hair. The report includes a confidence note and other possible shapes, and comparing two or three photos gives a steadier answer.

What face shapes can it detect?

It uses the common categories: oval, round, square, rectangle (oblong), heart, diamond and triangle (pear). When a face sits between two categories, it says so instead of forcing one answer.

Does it judge my looks, age or gender?

No. It only classifies the visible outline and gives styling ideas. It does not identify you or infer gender, ethnicity, age, health or attractiveness, and it does not treat any face shape as better than another.

Can I use the result to choose glasses and a haircut?

Yes, as a starting point. The report suggests frame shapes and hairstyles commonly recommended for the estimated shape. You can then preview frames with the Glasses Try-On tool and styles with the Hairstyle Changer before you buy or book.

What kind of photo works best?

A straight-on photo in even light, taken from about arm's length or farther, with a neutral expression and hair tied back from the forehead, ears and jaw. Avoid wide-angle close selfies, tilted heads and photos where glasses or a beard hide the jawline.

How much does a face shape analysis cost?

Each analysis costs 5 credits with GPT-4o or 3 credits with GPT-4o mini. If an analysis fails, the credits are returned automatically.
