Why it works

'Studio Ghibli style' and 'Miyazaki-inspired' are well-represented style tokens — diffusion models trained on anime data respond strongly.
'Soft watercolor background' pushes the model away from sharp digital lines toward the hand-painted feel.
Specific clothing ('pale yellow cardigan') anchors the character design in the target aesthetic.
'Gentle expression' produces calm portraits — without it you often get generic smiling anime faces.

Variations to try

Male character
Replace 'anime girl with short brown hair' with 'anime boy with tousled black hair'.
Winter scene
Replace 'summer sky' with 'falling snow at dusk' and 'warm afternoon light' with 'soft blue twilight'.
Makoto Shinkai style
Replace 'Studio Ghibli style' with 'Makoto Shinkai style' for more dramatic lighting and vivid skies.

FAQs

Is this prompt Studio Ghibli trademark-safe?

'Style' prompts aren't generally considered trademark infringement in the same way as logos. However, for commercial use, avoid direct brand references. 'Hand-drawn anime watercolor style' is a safer phrasing that produces similar results.
